How long will it take?
I Everyone is different, and for this reason, it is essential to have a full consultation prior to your treatment programme. Many people believe that the hair never grows back after only one treatment. This belief is actually incorrect. The results of the treatments are progressive. This means that after each treatment the hair grows back finer and fairer, taking longer to return, until eventually it doesn't grow back at all.
If the hairs have previously been removed by plucking or other methods, the growth will be much stronger, as the follicles will have been stimulated, and will require more thermolysis and/or electrolysis treatments than untreated growth. Depending on the size of the area requiring treatment, and also the strength and maturity of the hair growth, this will determine the expected length of time your treatment programme will take. It is important to mention that then appointments frequency will be reduced over the time.

Where can be treated?
I Practically any area, apart from the inside of the nose and inner ear (mucous membrane tissue). Common areas are the face, nipples, abdomen, legs, underarms, bikini line, fingers and toes. For men, the upper arms, around the ears, top of the nose, top of the back and around the edges of the beard where ingrown hairs are causing problems.

Does it hurt?
It is roughly the same sensation as if you were to pluck the hair. However it varies according to where the hair is and how you have been removing the hair so far. Special aftercare cream will be applied and aftercare instruction will be given.

How many treatments will I need?
Electrolysis and Thermolysis are treatments that are as individual as you are. Since everyone has a different density of hair (i.e. some have lots packed into a small area and others have less hair spaced out) it’s impossible to put a figure on the number of treatments you’ll need. You will certainly need to have regular appointments over a long period of time (at least a year if not more for most areas) as this is how long it takes for every hair to appear at the surface of the skin. Not all our hair is growing at the same time. On top of this your hair diameter, skin sensitivity and other factors such as medication, hormone levels affect how much treatment will be needed; how much can be given in a single sitting.
You will be able to see the hair reducing throughout your treatments though, so you do not have to wait until the end to see a difference.

How does Thermolysis and Electrolysis work?
It works by passing a tiny pre-packed sterilised needle into the opening of the hair follicle, then discharging a small amount of high frequency energy into the hair follicle, where it creates friction within the tissues. This generates a mild thermal heat which then destroys the matrix cells that produce the hair at the base of the follicle, through either cauterisation or coagulation, thus destroying or weakening hair growth depending on the stage of the hair cycle.
Why have Electrolysis and Thermolysis Hair Removal?
Most people spend years temporarily removing unwanted hair themselves in a variety of ways, which in many cases can actually worsen the situation (hair follicle distortion, thickening of the hair, skin pitting, etc).
What about side effects?
There is usually some redness and a little swelling resembling an insect bite straight after thermolysis and electrolysis. These will disappear after a short time. The exception is the body which may show tiny pinprick scabs, which will drop off naturally within a week or so, depending of the skin type of the patient.

I want the treatment, but do I have to walk around with visible hair just for my appointments?
You can still remove hair between appointments by cutting or shaving (yes, even on the face) just so long as there is enough to show where the hair is on the day of your appointment. But please, do not be tempted to tweeze or wax!!
